Doylestown took the girls title at the 14th Annual Gonzaga Rugby Classic, held April 25–26 at George Washington Middle School in Alexandria, Virginia. The Pennsylvania side went unbeaten through the tournament, posting a combined score of 154–7 across all matches. The Gonzaga Classic is one of the premier high school rugby tournaments on the East Coast, drawing girls and boys varsity teams from 9 states. DMV clubs in action: the combined North Bay / Virginia Outcasts squad went 80–0 against the South Carolina Barbarians and 19–7 over the Raleigh Redhawks in pool play. A touring squad drawn from four clubs — North Bay (MD), Virginia Outcasts, Maryland Valkyries, and Corning Rugby Club (NY) — spent spring break competing in northern Italy, organized by Jeff Adamczyk through the Northern Chesapeake Rugby Foundation. After a brutal travel day (missed Munich connection, long bus ride), the team lost their opening match against a Lombardy select side in Mantova. They bounced back to beat Parabiago 34–21, then ASD Villorba Rugby 34–10. Villorba are no ordinary opponent — they are Italy's reigning Serie A Elite women's champions and 2024/25 Conference Cup winners at European club level. The team also trained on Benetton Rugby's professional pitch in Treviso and attended a URC match (Benetton vs Cardiff) that same evening. Full article coming soon.
